    Steps to completing the square (quadratic equations):

    1. Divide the term by the leading coefficient; if the equation has no leading coefficient, skip to step 2. 2. Move the constant term to the other side of the equation by performing its inverse operation. 3. Divide the linear coefficient by 2, square this answer, and then add that value to both sides. 4. Simplify the equation. 5. Factor the newly created quadratic equation.
