In the public switched telephone network in-band signaling is the exchange of signaling (call control) information on the same

chanel that the telephone call itself is using. Signaling System 7 (SS7) is a system that puts the information required to set up and manage telephone calls in a separate network rather than within the same network that the telephone call is made on.latest standard and uses out-band signalling. Using SS7, telephone calls can be set up more efficiently and with greater security. Special services such as call forwarding and wireless roaming services are easier to add and manage. SS7 is now an international telecommunications standard. Address complete message (ACM) Message returned from the terminating switch when the subscriber is reached and the phone starts ringing, or when the call traverses an interworking point and the intermediate trunk is seized Call progress (CPG) Contains additional information about the progress of a call. Normally sent after the ACM when the status of the call changes from that reported in the ACM. so its an additional feature u can say ..!!
