Dear EHS Staff and Faculty, This semester we are starting a new student organization called CAFE-Collaborating and

Facilitating Educators. The goal of this student organization is to provide a medium to discuss hot-button educational issues that we do not have time to go in depth about during our classes, but yet will play significant pieces in our future as educators. For example, in our future meetings we hope to discuss merit pay, public school funding and high stakes testing. Each CAF meeting will have at least two experts give their position on an issue and then the floor will be open to discussion. This is not a debate, but instead a chance for students to come and talk about these important issues that will play a role in their future careers. Although we are a student organization, there are no dues for our group or requirements for attendance. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join our discussions! We would like your help in spreading the word about CAFE to your students. Our first meeting will be on Monday, January 28th at 7:30pm in McGuffey Room 223. At this meeting we will be focusing on Teach for America, discussing the pros and cons of the program. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your help! Thank you, Heather Allentuck and Taylor Davis allenthl@miamioh.edu, davistm3@miamioh.edu
