There are so many places where genetic mutations can occur.

The top left sequence shows a healthy birth process with no genetic mutations. The bottom four sequences show how many different ways things can go wrong and genetic mutations can happen. The bottom left shows when there is a genetic mutation starting all the way from one or both of the parents. The two middle ones show how the cell division can go wrong and cause problems, and the last one is also showing how even in adults cell division can cause genetic mutations although it usually isn't as bad.
