SOMETHING AMISS
Fumes penetrated and Contaminate air choking noses, throats heavily Factory effluent domestic rubbish Pollute free gifted water

Dry glass cracks buns away, Anonymous bushes fires Destroy surroundings leaving Bare soil hard dry and cracked

Juvenile delinquency high Wailing sounds of deprivation Sound of oppression within Eroded culture and marginality Existing between parents and children

Kids folly discovering wanton World imbibing to the brim As if pleasure is life, Chamba And drugs disturbing youthful brains

El-Nio rains are erratic To cultivate and plant A burden, the scratched soil Deprived of its humus, soil Contaminated with soaring Fertilizer prices and chemicals Are hazardous to supple land

Those accessorial herbs, spirits, Voodoos Settled down Praying for dead spirits to pacify Erected cement tombstones (chiliza) Rested in peace and gave fortune

What about these rebellious, Vandalism, juvenile pregnancies, Rooting, armed robbery, Escalated number of street kids Surely something must be amiss 29th September 98 Jodawe Lungu
