Keenan Brown INT 470 Site/Mock interview

Entering the professional workforce will be a new and exciting phase of life that my peers and I will come to experience in the next few months. For me, this semesters courses has provided me with multiple assignments that are designed to prepare me with the necessary skills I will need to show a clear advantage amongst my competitors aiming for the same careers I am. The mock and site interview were very beneficial exercises that helped me gain insight on how well I perform and meet expectations in the job hiring process. Reflecting on the mock interview with Dr. Miller, I think I was able to answer most of the questions provided. Being able to get my point across in a clear, concise way is most important. I think it shows good decision making ability and strong character. I had not noticed how much I tended to use filler words and hesitate as I answer questions. It builds some level of anxiety as I dont know if I seem like I am not answering quickly enough and if I am making specific points. I have taken form the mock interview that I must think as positive as I sound and take my time. From experience, most interviewers encourage interviewees to really take their time. For the Site interview I chose to Interview the Chief Financial Officer for Sentara Norfolk General Mr. Robert Broerman. He was appointed to this position in 2001 and is responsible for all aspects of the organizations financial management. His staff includes the financial personnel of all 12 Sentara operating divisions in addition to all centralized finance employees including the Revenue Cycle and Treasury functions. He is impressive in presence

and in accolades as he is very professional in appearance and poise almost like he practices in the mirror. He has an extensive history with the healthcare Industry of about 20 years but he told me just like anyone else has been telling me, having a Masters degree is almost necessary to land ahead of the curve.
