Expandable Book for Hearing Impaired

A. What for: Recognition of vowels and consonants Mastering hand signs

B. What to use: C. How Multi-purpose Board Colored papers Poster paint Brush Masking tape and Glue Scissor and Cutter Ruler Pencil Printed Pictures to make: Get a ruler and a pen then draw three 8x8 squares chronologically on the top and the bottom of a multi-purpose board. Using a sharp cutter cut the rectangular shape on the top and bottom of the board. Note: do not cut the three lines that has been created inside the two rectangles instead pass the cutter mildly on it. This will serve as the fold of your expandable book. You have now two expandable books you will have to connect it to each other. Tape both ends front to back with masking tape make sure that it is aligned and can stand. Note: you can make it stand by forming it into zigzag. Paint it the way you want using poster paint and brush. Leave it until it dries. Cut the 10 colored papers into 6x6 square, paste each on the squares of the book, serving as the base. Paste a boarding line in every edge to make it more pleasing. Paste all the pictures of hand signs, vowel letters, things that begins with the vowel a,e,i,o,u, the hand signs of the things that begins with vowels and the title of your project. The sequence of posting the pictures is vowel letter on the left side and hand sign on the right on the first square and at the second square would be picture of a thing that begins with A on the right side and its hand sign on the left. Do it in sequence and do the same at the back of the book. Also paste the title in the front part and the consonant letters picture at the last part.

D. How to use: It can be displayed inside the classroom, form it into zigzag to make it stand. The children with hearing impairment will be attracted of its colourful pictures and will be likely to imitate the hand signs. Child may use it as a book to a particular lesson. E. Sped Variation: Basically, the Expandable Book is for Hearing Impaired but it can be used for all. Do not put hand signs if you are going to use it to other categories. You can also put other pictures on your book like for example: if your subject is about GMRC you can create an expandable proper hygiene book or you can put pictures of you and your students and display it on your table.
