Members Hold a Minutes Silence for Turkish Athlete

Members prepare to bow their heads in a minutes silence for Turkish Athlete Seyithan Akbalik. 24 February 2014

As many of you may already be aware, the taekwondo community was recently saddened to hear of the tragic death of Turkish athlete Seyithan Akbalik at the Luxor Open, Egypt. The 21-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest before being taken to hospital, where he tragically passed away. As a mark of respect to the fellow athlete, President Adrian Tranter lead a minutes silence at the recent Dan Promotion Seminar, which was observed by all 220 participants with great dignity. British Taekwondo wishes to pass on its sincere condolences to Seyithans family, our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.
