Abstract ENDOCRINE SURGERY Imaging in the Management of Endocrine Surgery Date: 25th October 2013 (Friday) Diseases of the endocrine system encompass the diseases of the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal gland, pituitary gland and neuroendocrine tumors. For the imaging of these structures, modalities such as ultrasound, CT scan, MR Imaging, PET/CT scan, SPECT/CT and radionuclide imaging were utilized. Ultrasound is the first line in the imaging of the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland and adrenal gland diseases. Cross sectional imaging such as CT and MRI scan provides better characterization of these lesions in relation to the surrounding structures. PET/CT, SPECT/CT and radionuclide imaging give physiological-anatomical correlation of these diseases. However for pituitary lesions, MR Imaging is the main imaging modality. In this lecture the imaging features of common thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary lesions are described.
