Riddle Bag
This activity can be teacher directed or played by two children in a learning center. Copy the pictures for the ag family from this site and write riddles, definitions or synonyms on the back of each card, providing clues to the name of the picture/word. Laminate and place in a bag, plain or fancy! The teacher or riddle reader describes the word by reading the descriptive clues. Students may guess the correct word at any time. Optional activity: provide a small white bag for each student (these are usually available at wholesale food distributors or party supply stores). Students may decorate the bag with ag pictures and make their own clue cards for the activity. Play with rotating partners for exposure to different levels of clues. Students will learn to be more descriptive in their writing since the ultimate goal is allow your partner to guess correctly!
