Adjective: An adjective describes or modifies a noun or a pronoun. Examples: 1. 2. 3. Placement: Sometimes adjectives came before the noun they describe. Example: 1. Sometimes de adjective come after. Example: 1. Adjectives can also come after linking verbs. These are called predicative adjectives. Example: 1. Articles & demonstrative: Article: an article is a special kind of adjective. There are only 3 articles the, an, a. The- describes a specific item or items. Example: 1. a- refers to any item. Use a before words that begin with a vowel sound. Example: 1.

an- refers to any item. Use an before a word that begin with a vowel sound. Example: 1. Demonstrative: they point out something specific. They are used in front of a noun. They include the words: this, that, these, those. Singular vs plural This and that are singular. Use them to point out something that shows one. Example: 1. 2. These and those are plural. Use them to point out something that shows more than one. Example: 1. 2. Comparatives & superlatives Comparatives are used to show the difference between two objects. Example: 1. 5 basic rules: 1. If an adjective has one syllable we add the ending er to the adjective. Example: 2. If a one syllable adjective ends with an a consonant + a vowel + a consonant, you must double the last consonant and then add er. Example: -

3. If it end in a y remove the y and add ier. Example: 4. If an adjective has three syllables or more add the word more. Example: 5. There are a few exceptions: good- better than bad- worse than far- farther than fun- more fun

Superlatives- are used to show the difference between more than two objects. A superlative is used to show the differences that exist in a group. Example: 1. 2. 5 Rules: 1. Same from comparatives. Ex. Small- smallest Example: 2. Same from comparatives. Big- biggest Example: 3. If an adjective ends with a y remove it and add iest. Example: -

4. Same as comparatives. Ex. Most beautiful 5. There are a few exceptions: good: the best bad: the worst far: farthest fun: most fun
