In the United States, we generate up to 220 million tons of solid waste each year.

That is slightly less than 1 ton of waste per capita! Solid waste is any solid, liquid or contained gaseous material that is not regulated by any other legislation (Atomic Energy Act, CWA, RCRA, etc.) that we no longer have any use for or intent to trade or sell. 1. What are the types of solid waste that Americans throw away and which are the most abundant? Plastic, paper. Most abundant is plastic because its cheaper, and we use it for almost everything. 2. What can we do with our waste? Recycle, reuse. Use landll and burn it. 3. You are building a new landfill in Freemont and you want the best location possible. What are three (3) considerations you need to make before you begin construction? The it should be far from a location where people often go, they have the soil, space, and size, volume rate. 4. When you are building a landfill and you have cleared a parcel of land, what are the steps in building your landfill? Now build it!
Extract well, compressed air. You need to add the soil, and protect the drainage layer.

5. Now your landfill is operational. What is the procedure for filling the landfill and closing it? How do you know when the landfill is full? You need compacting clay, and cover it. Its full when it reaches its capacity. 6. Your landfill has been capped off. What do you do to monitor your landfill?
