Chinese New Year at V!VA Mississauga

Our Chinese New Year Celebration at V!VA Mississauga was a memorable event. We had the pleasure of seeing a Lion Dance performance put on by the Chung Wah Kung Fu association. The celebration continued with an entertainer playing the Chinese flute and her friend performing three traditional Chinese dances. The celebrations ended off with Community Members enjoying a lovely Chinese dinner finished with a fortune cookie.

Coffee and Chocolate, a Tasty Combination

V!VA Mississauga had the pleasure having Kaycee, barista from Starbucks, back to do a wonderful coffee and chocolate pairing seminar. Kaycee brought several coffee varieties which were served with chocolate. Kaycee also had an opportunity to enjoy a game of pool with one of the Community Members after the seminar. Thank you Kaycee!

V!VA Mississauga Community Member Shares his Knowledge

A BIG thank you goes to our Community Member, George. His presentation The Slow Dance of the Continents about the tectonic plates around the world was fascinating. His presentation included slides, pictures and history. We now know the cause of volcanoes and earthquakes around the world. Thank you George for an informative afternoon.

Mississauga Art Pieces Wanted Not So Newlywed Game

We celebrated Valentines Day by putting on a Not So Newlywed Game, where four couples competed to see who knew each other best. There was lots of laughter and great quippy answers from all our contestants. The winners were Marie and Al Ridley. The audience enjoyed delicious treats, a fun photo booth and even a visit from our own V!VA Mississauga Flash Mob! Many people came out to watch the show, including Rogers TV! The Art Gallery of Mississauga has invited V!VA Mississauga to join in a Art Project called (un)settler. This is a Community Journal where you, as Community Members, get an opportunity to draw, paint, collage or write your ideas, feelings and stories about living in Mississauga. The Community Journal will then be passed on from person to person and together you will create a portrait of this great city and its people. Come and join us on Friday March 7th at 2:00 pm for an opportunity to be part of this great art project.
