To whom it may concern, I would like to recommend Katherine Krein-Boatman as a wonderful teaching candidate for your school.

My name is Paulina Oswald and I am currently employed at Monticello Academy Charter School in West Valley City, Utah. For the past four years I have been working within Mrs. Krein-Boatmans classroom as a Special Education Aide. During this time, two of my boys have been enrolled in her Eighth and Ninth grade Language Arts courses. I am pleased at the skills she has taught them and realize that the things that they have learned in her classroom are allowing them to flourish in high school. My eldest son, Skyler, has remarked many times that writing essays is easy because of what he learned within the walls of her classroom. My younger son is currently taking Ninth grade World Literature from Mrs. Krein-Boatman presently and scored very high on his Direct Writing Assessment last year. As a Special Education Aide, I find that Mrs. Krein-Boatman has an amazing talent that allows her to teach to all learning levels within her classroom. Her assignments are challenging enough for her advanced students, yet she finds a way to thoroughly scaffold them for her lower achieving students. She has a knack for teaching students of all writing abilities to create well organized and exceptionally written essays. Her Direct Writing Assessment scores have been the second highest in the state for the last two years. Her state test scores are extremely high as well. I believe that last year one hundred percent of her students, including the Special Education students, scored a three or above. The year before, the students achieved ninety-eighth percent. I enjoy helping and participating in her classroom. She has excellent classroom management. Many students who seem to be unruly, off-task, and behaviorally challenged love coming to her class because she has clear expectations and amazing structure built into her curriculum. She is always prepared and loves to connect with her students. I will miss her here at Monticello Academy, but I know that wherever she goes her students will be successful.

Sincerely,

Paulina Oswald
