Process Paper

In order to choose our topic, we decided to take a focus on Japan due to their forever structured lifestyle. We decided that Japan was the most structured during the feudal era, where samurai dominated the overall culture. Beings that samurai shaped the feudal era, we decided to focus on samurai. The lives of the samurai were a constant push and pull of rights and responsibilities, which made them a clear choice to base our project around.

We really wanted to focus on primary documents when we conducted our research, as they gave us true incite to the way they conducted their lives. In order to search for these primary sources, my partner and I investigated many only archives that held old documents pertaining to samurai. We also visited the schools library, and found many books centered on the lives and culture of samurai. The authors of medieval Japan proved to be very thorough, with their texts had been well preserved on the internet.

Due to the excess of information on samurai, my partner and I deemed a website the most proficient way of organizing information. We began by first creating the website, creating a mellow theme to suit the calm, honorable samurai. Also, we decided the pallet of the website would consist of whites, reds, and grays. The information was created using Microsoft Word, and then submitted into text boxes. Pictures were found through search engines, and also sources where information was found.

Samurai were an adept cult of warriors, having to observe and revere many strict codes, such as the Bushido Code. Also, samurai (and the people they affected) had to uphold many

responsibilities. A samurais honor was always at stake. That being said, this correlates directly with the theme of Rights and Responsibilities in History.
