Our Mission Statement

H. Clarke Powers Schools vision is one of being committed to working with the community and its students who will become lifelong learners who show respect, compassion, responsibility, commitment, and a work ethic while meeting academic standards to become active, globally-minded decision makers for years to come. We believe all students can learn and each of our students can reach their full potential. An International Baccalaureate Candidate School

H. Clarke Powers School is a candidate school for the Primary Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophya commitment to high -quality, challenging, international educationthat we believe is important for our students. * Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) or the Diploma Programme (and in addition the IB Careerrelated Certificate). What is (IB) International Baccalaureate?


Founded in Geneva in 1968, there are currently 3,561 schools in 145 countries offering challenging IB programs to more than one million students. Through comprehensive and balanced curriculum, along with challenging assessments, the IB Organization aims to assists schools in their efforts to develop the individual talents of young people and teach them to relate the experience of the classroom to the realities of the outside world. Beyond intellectual rigor and high academic standards, strong emphasis is placed on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship. We want our IB students to become critical and compassionate thinkers, lifelong learners and informed participants in local and world affairs, conscious of the shared humanity that binds all people together, while respecting the variety of cultures and attitudes that makes for the richness of life.

What is an IB Student?
The IB model has a community focused program, so the students learn from the teachers and the community. They get hands on learning, education through projects, and real world experiences while developing socially, emotionally, personally, and intellectually.

How Learning is Different
