Homework 4 (Lesson 4)
Remember your submitted work is all you have to represent who you are when you are not there. Submitting neat work vs. sloppy work sends a strong message!

1) A transmission tower is held by three guy wires attached to a pin at A and anchored by bolts at B, C, and D. If the tension in wire AB is 630 lb, determine the vertical force P exerted by the tower on the pin at A.
Intermediate Check: force in wire AC = 467.42 lb

2) Object E is suspended from bar AB, which is supported by cables BD and BC. Assume that the mass of the bar AB is negligible compared to the mass of the suspended object E. the mass of object E is 200 kg. Determine the tension in cables BC and BD.
Hints: Bar AB exerts a force on the ball B that points from A toward B. Check you answer: force in cable BC = 1.61N.

3) The 100-kg cylinder shown in the side figure is suspended from the ceiling by cables attached at points B, C, D. What are the tensions in cables AB, AC, and AD?
Check you answer: force in cable AB = 519 N.
