The following table gives data for the distance traveled in feet as a

function of the angle in degrees at which the ball is hit for a bat speed
100 mph .
1) As you did in Task:3; enter this data into an excel spread sheet
and obtain the quad- ratic equation that best models these data. You
don't need to post your graph just write down the equation.

y = -0.1699x^2+ 13.179x - 28.291

2) Use the quadratic model to determine the angle at which the ball must
be hit in or- der to achieve the maximum distance. Show your calculation
and round your answer to the nearest degree.

3) If you were to advise an aspiring player on how to increase the
distance of his hits , based on the above , what would you suggest ?
layers can lncrease Lhe dlsLance of Lhelr hlLs by hlmng Lhe ball
aL 43 degrees .

A.C.S = -b/2a
-(13.179)/2(-0.1699) = 44.670343 degrees .

So , Lhe maxlmum angle LhaL can be hlL ln order Lo achlve
Lhe maxlmum dlsLance ls 43 degrees .
