Interpretation and Translation Support Services

Multicultural Family Support Centers provide one-stop services customized for the needs of multicultural families. Various services are offered, including Korean language education services, family education services, counseling services for families and individuals, support for childcare and education of children, translation and interpretation support services, employment and entrepreneur support services and multicultural education services, in order to help marriage immigrants adjust to Korean society and support the stable establishment and family lives of multicultural families. Currently, 204 Multicultural Family Support Centers are being operated in Korea. Members of multicultural families who need help can visit the nearest center and access the services they need, free of charge.

To help marriage immigrants adjust to their local communities, education services to aid them in understanding the Korean language, the laws of Korea and Korean culture are provided. Trainees may use the education services according to their level. For learners who have difculty visiting the Center, instructors will visit marriage immigrants in their homes to provide education, and online education services are also operated.

Multicultural children may use services supporting Korean language development and develop their language skills according to their age. Professional language instructors of the Center evaluate children and provide children who need to develop their Korean language skills with language education and consulting services.

For marriage immigrants who have difculty with childcare due to language and cultural gaps, professional instructors visit their homes to provide visiting educational services. The instructors provide education services on pregnancy and childbirth and childcare. Marriage immigrants who use the Center may also use the daycare services of the Center.

The instructors of education, to aid understanding in multiculturalism are being fostered to operate education services to promote a better understanding of multiculturalism, in order to improve the public awareness of multiculturalism. Customized educational services are operated, based on the characteristics of trainees. In addition, operation of local multicultural programs designed by considering the local conditions and characteristics of multicultural families is supported, in order to develop excellent local multicultural programs and improve the awareness of local residents on multiculturalism.
