Acids and Bases are everywhere. For example: Water can sometimes be an Acid, or a base.
ACIDS
Acids are very important. They can be good or bad. Without acids, a lot of things would change:
Your car wouldnt start because there is an acid called Sulphuric acid in the car batteries. Vitamin C is an acid also called Ascorbic acid. Your food will rot quicker because it has Citric acid. A main compound of vinegar is Ethanoic acid. Hydrochloric acid is used to clean swimming pools.
BASES
Bases are just as important as acids. These are some of the ways we use them in everyday life:
Sodium Hypochlorite is in bleach.
Ammonium Hydroxide is in glass cleaners. Calcium Hydroxide is used to make cement. Sodium Hydroxide is used in soap, detergents and cleaners.

Some properties of acids are:
They taste sour. They neutralize bases producing salt and water. They are electrolytes. They react with active metals to produce hydrogen.
pH less than 7.
PROPERTIES OF BASES
These are some of the properties of bases:
They taste bitter. pH more than 7 They neutralize acids producing salt and water. They are electrolytes. They feel slippery.
