Chase Evan Oliphant was born at 6:00 PM on Monday June 3rd 1996 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center

in Lebanon, New Hampshire to Kerry Norman and Julie Michelle Oliphant. He had an older sister, Riley Anne Oliphant, born three years before. Kerry and Julie had been living in New Hampshire for two having moved from Gilbert, Arizona. Kerry had lost his job as an engineer designing jet engines for Allied Signal aerospace in an aerospace industry downturn and had moved the family to New Hampshire to take a job for an engineering consulting company in Wilder, Vermont just across the river from where Chase was born. Chase was 8 lbs 9 oz. and 22 inches long when he was born which is not too unusual for a new born; however, unlike most newborns he did not lose any weight right after birth and began growing very quickly. Chase has always been much bigger than others in his age-group from his earliest years. He was a very calm and well behaved baby and that characteristic shows itself today in his calm demeanor and he does not complain when he has to do something hard. When he was two years old he came down with a very extreme case of Chicken Pox and he was in a lot of pain but he did not cry or complain and so his parents were not aware until later of just how sick he was. Another example was when he was a new twelve year old boy scout at his first summer camp. He went on a twenty mile hike with his troop into Yellowstone National Park that was a life changing experience for him. He fell several times during the hike and by the end he was covered in mud and blood but he finished the hike without complaint. It was the most difficult thing that he had ever done to that point in his life taxing him both physically and mentally. Chases best friend growing up was his big sister Riley. One of their favorite things to do would be to recite from memory lines from funny movies that they had recently seen. He has a great memory and a mind that quickly grasps difficult concepts and he has always been a good student. Chase loves people. He loves to be around people and he loves to have fun with his friends. He cares deeply for his family and friends and will always be doing small acts of service for those he loves. When Chase was two years old his family moved from New Hampshire to Sandy Utah. He attended Granite Elementary until the Fifth grade when he was enrolled in a charter school, Channing Hall, which better served his academic needs. At Channing Hall he excelled in math and reading and he also had the opportunity to play basketball for the middle school team when he was in the Seventh and Eighth grade. In his last year at Channing Hall he was the starting center on the basketball team that won the Charter Middle School state championship. Chase loves basketball and it has been a key part of his physical and mental development since he started playing in the Second Grade. After Channing Hall, Chase enrolled at the Academy for Math Engineering and Science (AMES) where he continued to develop academically excelling in math and science. The colocation with Cottonwood High School allowed Chase to continue his love of basketball giving him the opportunity to play for the Cottonwood High School team. The associating with Cottonwood has also fostered in him a love for the musical arts. He played Trombone his freshman and sophomore years and was the trombone section leader for the Cottonwood High School band his sophomore year. As a senior he was asked to sing with the Cottonwood High School Madrigals Choir.
