WRITING A REPORT ABOUT YOUR CITY HISTORY

Sogamoso Boyac Colombia. Town located at the northwest of the department of Boyac. This town was formed by migration of Chibcha indigenous, in the 9th century. The indigenous community was engaged to the sun which they regarded as their only and absolute God. Sogamoso was also considered by Muisca community as the most important center of worship to their god the Sun, by that reason lot of indigenous migrated to this land. The Spanish conquest of the boyacense territory occurred in 1537, under Gonzalo Jimnez de Quesadas army which plundered the temple of the sun, a situation in which fire consumed a huge part of the sanctuary, after these facts the Spaniards lay down over the indigenous territory and forced their civil, political and religious culture. In September 6th of 1810, the people of sogamoso, received the title of Republican town.
