James Cook the son of a Scottish farmhand At 18 yrs old, he became an apprentice of a ship owner He joined the British Navy at 29 yrs old

 He commanded the HMS Endeavor. Where he discovered the charted New Zealand and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia He explored many parts of the world including Antarctica, Easter Island and more
