CITY BRAINSTORMING
These are the subjects of Davide Bramantes photographs: cities. Cities portrayed through memory and the image of metropolitan areas, all constructed by putting together simultaneous shots and strange superimpositions. Singular grouped views made up of many different moments.
Testo
The series created by David Bramante called Last New York, are part of his output dedicated to exploration of cities and all start from the concept of voyage seen as exploration of places that follow a precise route. However, interest is not focused banally on all places, but only the most representative ones, the ones that best portray collective spirit.
This operation, first of all research and analysis of the urban context in its dual aspect architectural and social.
From the standpoint of planning, utilizing the technique of superimposition, double- and multi-exposures (all done while shooting and not digitally, and all on the same film), Davide Bramante translates onto photographic paper a range of views about the same place, as if in a sort of process of mental recomposition that binds together a succession of memories, thoughts and imaginings. The result is a place that is apparently unlikely and at the same time surprising, but the more we study the photograph, the more details emerge and the vision is completed, both from a spatial and temporal standpoint.
What we have before us is not an unreal urban landscape fruit of a fantasy-filled and arbitrary reconstruction of the place, as it might seem from a cursory initial glance.
