Call the local phone number for the Brinks security office that your Brinks h ome security system contacts in case of an emergency. Verify your protected, pri vate security information with the Brinks security person. Tell the Brinks secur ity person that you are changing out a battery in your Brinks home security syst em, so no action should be taken when the system goes off-line for a couple of minutes . 2. Unplug the power cord attached to the Brinks control box from the wall socket . Open the Brinks control box using a key if one is present, or by removing the screws on the side of the box with a Phillips screwdriver and then pulling the c over plate off. 3. Loosen the two screw connectors on the top of the battery with the jaws of a pliers. Remove the two screw connectors with your fingers. Pull the two wires of f the screws. Remove the battery and dispose of it properly. 4. Place the replacement battery in the battery compartment. Place the screw hol e on the end of the red cable over the red-colored screw contact on the top of t he battery. Place the screw hole on the end of the black cable over the black-co lored screw contact on the top of the high quality battery. Place the two screw connectors on the two screws and tighten them down with your fingers. Further ti ghten the two screw connectors with the pliers. 5. Close and lock the control panel or reattach the panel and the screws, depend ing upon how it was opened. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. 6. Call the Brinks security office. Confirm that your Brinks home security syste m is functioning correctly so that it can be monitored again.
