Conclusion: The final water quality for the San Diego River sample was about a 50. This is a medium quality, but could be much better. By taking a sample, one would need to test the various samples for things such as nitrates or pH. The sample values are put into a caluculation that will allow the show of the Water Quality index for that sample. The result are multiplied by the weighting factor, which will show the subtotal. The subtotal scores are added to the final score of the overall Water Quality Index, which is 50. The water quality was much better than I expected, since there are many problems within the harbor. These include many ships going in and out of the harbor and various byproducts of propellers or materials from the ship, that can lead to waste and other particles in the water.
