Richard Matthews TEST TAKING PROCEDURE During a test, it is important that procedures are known so that test anxiety

can be held to a minimum. Rationale: During scheduled tests, students anxiety can become very high. By establishing a known procedure, anxiety can be reduced. By using assigned seating, chances of anyone cheating are reduced so each student has their own chance to shine and demonstrate the knowledge theyve gained through diligent study. Step 1. Teacher will have classroom arranged in rows. A start time and end time will already be posted on the whiteboard as well as an assignment for any who complete the test early. Step 2. Upon entering, students will turn in any homework, as usual, and sit in their assigned seats in accordance with the seating chart posted on day one of class. Step 3. Students will keep one pencil and one pen on their desk. All other items will be put away. Step 4. Test booklets will be handed out. Inside each booklet is an answer sheet. Step 5. As a group, everyone will remove their answer sheet and write their name and the date on the top of the sheet. Step 6. Once teacher has ensured that all names are on all answer sheets, the test will begin. Step 7. When you complete the test, place your answer sheet in your booklet and raise your hand. Teacher will collect your answer sheet and test booklet. Step 8. Work on the assignment on the whiteboard. Rehearse: As each student enters, they will turn in any homework and go to their assigned seat removing all items but one pen and one pencil from their desktop. Check for understanding: Why is it important that the students sit in assigned places? Why is it important to work quietly on the assignment after your test? How does being quiet after the test show respect for others?
