Environmental science provides an integrated, quantitative, and interdisciplinary approach to the study of environmental systems Environmental science came alive as a substantive, active field of scientific investigation in the 196 s and 19! s driven by (a) the need for a multi"disciplinary approach to analyze comple# environmental problems, (b) the arrival of substantive environmental la$s requiring specific environmental protocols of investigation and (c) the gro$ing public a$areness of a need for action in addressing environmental problems. Environmental studies deals $ith every issue that affects an organism. %t is essentially a multidisciplinary approach that brings about an appreciation of our natural $orld and human impacts on its integrity. %t is an applied science as it&s see's practical ans$ers to ma'ing human civilization sustainable on the earth&s finite resources.
