Self-confidence = feeling that we can do things successfully Learner autonomy/ independence = feeling responsible for and in control of our own learning
Encouragement and support from others, e.g. parents, teachers, classmates, school, society Interest in the learning process: the interest and relevance to us of the course content, classroom activities, teachers personality, teaching methods.

Learners may have strong motivation in an area and little in another. Motivation can change. Different learners will be motivated in different ways. Motivation can change with age too. Motivation needs to be created and continued.
Set a personal example with your own behaviour Create relaxed atmosphere in the classroom Develop a good relationship with the learners. Increase the learners self-confidence about language learning Make the language classes interesting . Promote learner autonomy Personalize the learning process Increase the learners awareness of their goals. Familiarize learners with the target language culture
