Reflective Essay I chose my best piece of academic work to be my Teacher Work Sample taken during my math methods course.

This sample was taken and administered by myself and a partner. It helped me learn more about working together with someone on instruction and collaborating ideas for the work sample. This assignment was a true example of the work I will be doing as a teacher and reflects my abilities as a teacher. I was able to administer a pre-assessment, give three class lessons, along with a formative assessment, and finally the post assessment. This took a lot of planning and thinking through what the best next instructional steps should be. According to the data, my teaching had an effect on the students learning. Almost everyone improved their scores, which shows me that the lessons we taught impacted the students and their learning. This assignment has set me up perfectly for student teaching. I have been able to assess where students are every week and am able to determine what their next steps are and how to help them. It has also helped me to see that its possible for every student to progress without someone falling more behind.
