Tyrannosaurus rex is probably the most known dinosaur because of its massive size.

Tyrannosaurus rex is abbreviated to T-rex most of the time. Tyrannosaurus is a Greek word which means tyrant lizard and rex is a Latin word.

History
The T-rex lived 66 million years ago in the late Cretaceous Period. It was one of the most ferocious dinosaurs that ever existed. There are lots of specimens of the T-rex in Natural History museums all over the world today. In 1997, Sue Hendrickson discovered an 85% complete T-rex skeleton and the Field museum of Natural History in Chicago purchased it for 7.6 million US dollars. The T-rex was a fascinating dinosaur.

Habitat
The Tyrannosaurus rex lived in river valleys and forests in a part of earth which is now western North America.

Food
The T-rex was a Carnivore (which means its a meat eater). It ate all dinosaurs except its own kind. Scientists think that the T-rex can eat as much as 500 pounds in one bite.

Appearance
The T-rex was 13 meters high and 4 meters long. It had extremely powerful short, small arms but they could not reach the jaw. It had two strong legs, a long tail and a death- defying jaw. The T-rex had forward pointing eyes. The arms and feet have claws.

Movement
It walked like a human, on two legs but it balanced on its long tail which was apparently heavy.

Behavior
It is ferocious because of its small brain. Mothers become very protective of their babies.

Life cycle
A t-rex lives for 30 years. First the eggs were laid. Then the eggs hatched. The babies grow up with their mother and then live on their own. The T-rex is really well known because of its size and ferocious behavior. It had a fomous history. It was a fascinating dinosaur.
