Needs Assessment Houston ISD has few specific programs or online resources for students with learning disabilities

or print disabilities such as dyslexia. Some of these programs are as follows: 1. Kurzweil: this program is a text- to- speech software allows struggling students multiple ways to access text, i.e. Word, PDF, of website documents. Special Education services has provided a districtwide license to permit access for all general and special education teachers and students. This program can be download to the personal computers. 2. Renzulli: This program is web search platform that looks for specific activities and levels. It looks for differentiated activities based on the student learning styles and can target grade specific assignments. This program can used at home with a computer with internet connection. 3. Follet E-books: this database of electronic books is available to all students. However, the database is limited to the number of books that have the read aloud feature. In our schools, these resources are available to all students. However, these resources are limited considering the needs of students with learning and print disabilities. More resources are needed to provided proper differentiation to this special populations and target their specific needs.
