I would like to recommend Miss Danielle Castillo to you for a teaching position
in Elementary Education. I worked with Miss Castillo, as her James Madison University
Supervisor for Student Teaching at Wilson Elementary from October 10 to December 12,
2013. She was very successful in her First Grade teaching at Wilson, located in Augusta
County, Virginia.
Miss Castillo was punctual, timely with require weekly computer entries,
cooperative with myself, the Cooperating Teacher and members of the faculty and staff at
school. She was patient, always willing to give extra help to students who didn't
understand or were behind. She demonstrated a sincere desire to see that all students in
her class experience success, providing positive feedback often. Miss Castillo maintained
a good rapport with students in class, while displaying effective classroom management
skills.
Another strength Miss Castillo demonstrated was being well organized and
resourceful planning her teaching units. Her lesson plans were thorough, creative and
included fun, hands on activities to support her concepts and goals. She used good
English, exhibited excellent communication skills and accepted suggestions for
improvement in a positive manner. Her Cooperating Teacher told me "how pleased she
was that Miss Castillo showed initiative the first day of teaching by assisting students
without being told."
Miss Castillo has a pleasant, enthusiastic, outgoing personality. She is
comfortable meeting new people and related well with the parents of the students she
taught. These gifts served her well in her student teaching experience. I am very
confident in recommending Miss Castillo and think she is ready for her own classroom.
