Key Assignment
This week we did a lot of review as we prepared to present our Key Assignment. Here is what we did this week: Instead of introducing new letters, we reviewed some of the letter combinations weve already learned. We finished making our island map. The kids made cute owls in art that we put in our forest. We learned some new poems about the desert animals and about a beaver that says ch! The kids typed up some facts about different mammals on the computer. They learned how to capitalize letters, how to put spaces, and how to delete errors. We drew and wrote about different animals that are endangered. We talked about different reasons that animals are endangered. Some are hunted, others are losing their habitats to global warming, deforestation and other human activities. We did some creating writing, choosing different animal attributes that we would like to have. We wrote about what we would want if we could have them. There were lots of big shark teeth, wings and fins! We presented our Key Assignment on Friday morning. It was very well done and the kids did a great job sharing what they have learned this unit. We enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch with all the parents that joined us. Thank you so much to all who were able to stay and share!

Important!
There will be NO school on Friday, April 18th, but the half days on April 9 and June 7 will be full days due to the EAL Acamis Conference which will be held at QISS on the 1819th of April.

Help at home! Ask your child to show you the action and tell you the sound of the letters and letter combinations weve learned Review the letter combinations weve talked about so far: ai, oa, ie, ee, or, ng, oo, ou, oi, ar, and er. For at least 20 minutes every day, read together! Ask questions about the story and record it on your reading log. Practice reading sight words! Talk about the plants and animals that you see around you! What responsibilities do the kids have at home?
