INTRODUCTION
This procedure is valid for single, dual and integrated server OMC-R configuration.
1.1.
OBJECT
The aim of this document is to describe the different kinds of backup that must be performed to save data or the OMC-R configuration, the procedures to perform them, and the scheduling for each of them. Preventive backup can be performed on following data types: Unix file system used to save the content of the applicative and system partitions of an OMC-R computer OMC-R environment data (i.e. network and OMC-R configuration and also file system) OMC-R daily data PCUOAM configuration backup (MDM and PCUSN configuration files) SVM configuration backups, disks partitioning, SVM configuration, applicative tree on file-systems
Each data backup can be restored separately for some particular uses: Previous daily data consultation (notifications, alarms, ...) Specific BDE (i.e. network and OMC-R configuration) restoration
For a global restoration, to be done after a major damage for example, the operator has to use the [A2] procedure.
1.2.
SCOPE
This procedure is applicable to OMC-R server(s) in single, integrated or dual configuration. This procedure can be run either on an OMC-R workstation or a server, which hardware configurations can be: dual E4500 servers with two T3 disks trays single E4500 server with two T3 disks trays Sun Fire 880 server with two T3 disks trays Sun Fire 890 server with 12 internal disks (HDI configuration) This procedure is applicable to OMC-R server(s) with and without a graphic display and a keyboard alike. Hardware installation issues (e.g. how to add or remove a graphic display and a keyboard) are explained in the [A1] procedure.
