MODAPTS overview

What is MODAPTS? A tool used to determine assembly workstation cycle time based on the operator s elemental movements. How does MODAPTS dene work? Work is fashioning things - producing new forms by the rearrangement of things. Things can be physical articles or objects of thought.

What makes MODAPTS a superior system? The Coding Procedure. MODAPTS coding is a form of shorthand that enables you to describe complex operations in a simplistic written code that is easily understood by other MODAPTS practitioners. A Simple Breakdown Two-part mnemonic code One alpha character One numeric character Modular, or whole number concept 1 MOD = approximately 1/8th second An Example The image on the left shows how the arm system is broken down into sections. Starting at the bottom and working up, each section requires a little more movement, and therefore, a little more time (MODS) to complete an activity. A nger move is the shortest move and involves the use of ngers in any direction. The element is coded as M1, where M=Move. An example of a nger move is turning down a screw or ipping a small switch.
