The Petroleum Geoscience MSc requires a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. Students with a score lower than 6.5 but above 6.0 will normally be required to take a pre-sessional English language course in the University English Language Teaching Unit. These standards may be subject to revision. Past experience suggests that students who arrive in advance of the MSc course and have undertaken "top-up" pre-session courses in English language course perform much better, with an improved level of understanding of the lectures and improved communication ability.
