Dear Parents, My name is Mrs. Kurovski (Mrs. K) and your son/daughter is currently enrolled in my English lll course this semester. I am looking forward to an exciting year of fun, yet challenging activities in my classroom. Although I am looking forward to the relationship I build with your child, I am also looking forward to establishing a relationship with you as a parent. Throughout the year, it is my job to challenge students to think critically, while using reading, writing, speaking, and listening techniques. I will constantly challenge your students to think about their future in order to teach them skills required after graduation. Students will be expected to be in class on time and prepared with a textbook, pencil, paper and any other materials/homework required for that specific class. Although I accept late homework for partial credit, I do not accept late work on assessments or papers. Students are able to make up to 10% of their points from the week before should they attend tutoring sessions on Tuesdays or Thursdays. I am also available for office hours before and after school. I have given your son/daughter a syllabus for you to look at. Throughout the course, we will be reading and analyzing two narratives, Grapes of Wrath and Taming of the Shrew. Both of these narratives are required; if you have any concerns with either of these narratives, feel free to contact me and we can work out an alternative curriculum for your son/daughter. I have extremely high expectations for each student in my class for which I will not apologize. I truly believe that students rise to the standards that are expected of them and I look forward to seeing students rise to their potential throughout the year. I truly do care for the well-being and growth of each student and because of that, I leave my door open to you at any time. I will contact you regularly to report student progress and I hope that you, also, will contact me with any concerns or questions that you may have. You may contact me at lkurovski@madrid.k12.ia.us or 641.750.2678. Thank you! Mrs. Lexie Kurovski
