Running head: PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT OF EDUCATION

Children are like snowflakes, no two are alike. So with this I must find a way to
teach a whole room of children the same material but in ways that they understand. This
can and will be a difficult task, which is a journey that I am ready to embark on.
After taking the philosophy assessment it showed that humanism and information
processing was the best philosophies that describe my personality. There are aspects
within these philosophies that are pertinent such as, creating an environment that enables
a positive learning experience and to find ways for students to process the new
information they learn.
According to my philosophical beliefs all schools should teach students not only
academics but how to be responsible for themselves, how to interact with others, and how
to process all the new information they learn in an academic setting. This would allow
the students to be able to learn not only basic subjects in school but how to be a
responsible, productive adult that has the ability to learn new information.
The humanism philosophy states that the focus should be on the whole child this
includes cognitively, socially, and emotionally. My role as a teacher is to give my
students the chance to learn at their pace without being rushed to learn. This means I will
make sure my students learn to the way they need to not how I want them to. However,
the students role is to become responsible for their education also.
So for me to be the most effective teacher I need be receptive of all the different
learning styles each of my students have. So the humanism philosophy shows that
learning should be partially decided by the student, due to their interests and partially by
the teacher, due to the curriculum. Therefore, the humanistic philosophy or certain
aspects of several are important to the governance of my life.
