December 20, 2013 To Whom it May Concern, It is a pleasure for me to provide a recommendation for Jillian Engele as a candidate for a teaching position. I have worked with Jillian as one of her cooperating teachers during her internship at Balgonie Elementary School. Jillian has many talents and skills that make her an excellent classroom teacher and a respected staff member. The quality that stands out about Jillian first and foremost is her pleasant personality. She has a kind and caring nature, and this shines through in her teaching. Jillian built strong relationships with students and has worked very hard to differentiate and adapt so all students experience success. Another area which Jillian excels is planning and organization. She is committed to providing learning experiences of high quality, as evidenced by the planning and preparedness for her classes. Jillians teaching targets and lesson plans are outstanding in their comprehensiveness. Her lesson planning clearly reflected outcomes, and were consistently linked to assessment. Jillian made every effort to make student learning applicable to real-life. She created learning opportunities that were fun for students. Her eagerness for teaching was always evident! Jillian utilized a variety of teaching strategies throughout her internship. She is technologysavvy, and engaged students with various tools such as the Smart document camera, videos, blogging, and visuals on the Smart board. Jillian also utilized strategies such as mini-inquiry assignments, strategic questioning and group work to maximize student learning. Jillian has been involved with many aspects of school life. Jillian assisted with the SLC (student leadership committee), attended We Day, helped prepare for the Christmas concert, and attended Girls Group. In addition, she often supervised the playground and library during lunch recess. I recommend Jillian to you without reservation. She is hard working, reliable, and would be an asset to any school.
