Assessment Plan

Entry-Level KWL Chart What do you know about the history of segregation in the United States? What do you want to learn? (Address only the Know and What aspects of the chart.) Quiz Take short-answer/multiple choice quizzes weekly based on the chapters assigned in To Kill a Mockingbird. Timeline Show important events of the novel in chronological order. Next to each event, there should be a description of it. Quickwrite Students will write a quickwrite in response to a critical thinking question after each major event in the novel. Venn Diagram Students will create a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting 2 characters in the novel. They will write a short summary describing their chart. KWL Chart Fill in the Learn section of the chart to see and share what students have learned. Final Exam Take a final exam when students are done reading the novel. There will be a variety of questions multiple choice, shortanswer, and passage analysis. Essay Students will be required to write a formal essay on a topic about the novel. This essay will be a response to literature and will require students to use textual evidence. Formative Summative
