INTRODUCTION:
Travel and tourism industry represents a wide spectrum of global economic activity spanning countries across the world. Its one of the largest industries of the world as a major economic contributor to GDP, Employment, Exports and Taxes etc.

OBJECTIVES:
1. To illustrate the potentials of tourism as a change or a revitalizing agent. 2. To analyze how tourism has evolved over a period of time.

OVERVIEW:
Travel Tourism being a major contributor to an economy so it is to India. In India tourism is not only a growth generator but also an employment generator. In India there has been a change in tourism industry or the industry has evolved. India being cultural and heritage hotspot which makes it a tourist hotspot too. India has over a period of time evolved to tap potential of tourism on whole.

This study highlights both the sides of the coin for Indian Tourism. One side, is all good Indian Tourism having vast potential for generating employment and overall growth and contributing to the Indian Economy in a major way. The other side is the challenges and the issues relating to infrastructure and climate that hinder the growth of the industry. The time has come to start evolving tourism which is ecologically balanced and attractive with all its positive aspects intact.
