Philosophy of Education

I implement concepts from both Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky in my preschool classroom every day. I believe the key to a successful program is the focus on child-centered learning. I think its important for children to be active in developing their curriculum. he

constructivist approach! "hich is based on concepts from Piaget and Vygotsky focuses on the active role children play in the development of their learning process. I like the idea of learning centers because it gives children an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities. hese

centers allo" children to learn through play! "hich is ho" children learn best. Its crucial for children to feel like they can e#plore "ithin their natural environment. Learning centers also promote social interaction bet"een the children! "hich Vygotsky emphasi$ed in his sociocultural theory. %e believed that a childs overall development is enriched through social interaction. &ne of his main concepts "as the $one of pro#imal development "hich refers to the range of tasks that are too complicated for children to master on their o"n. hese tasks can! ho"ever! be learned "ith assistance from someone "ho has

mastered them. I think learning centers are a great e#ample of a child "ho has mastered a task providing assistance to other children "ho are not 'uite at the same level of learning. (y goal is to make each one of my students feel special and cherished every day. I "ant my students to feel like they are in a safe and loving environment "hen they come to school. It is imperative that children believe a teacher "ill do everything possible to make their lives better.
