Natural Resources, Industry and Economy ! Texas has many natural resources . One of the biggest resources is oil. The people in Texas use oil to make plastics and chemicals. Another resource is cattle. We can get beef and leather from cattle. If Texas was a country, its economy would as large as some of the biggest countries in the world. Factories make ships, cars and farm equipment.

Geographical Location! The latitude and longitude is approximately 30 degrees north and 105 degrees west. Texas has six major geographical locations. Texas is home to pine forests, rich oil elds and swamps called bayousand. There is only one natural lake. Texas covers 268,601 square miles of the U.S.A. and Texas is mostly dessert. The climate varies a lot during summer, winter, spring and fall.!
Major Cities! The top ten major cities in order are: Houston , San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Ft. Worth, El Paso, Arlington, Corpus Christi, Plano and Garland. Houston is a major city in Texas with a big population of 2,045,737 people. You can do many things in Houston like go on boats, skateparks and go to museums.
Historical Events and Government ! Texass governor is Rick Perry (a Republican), thirty-one state senators and one hundred fty state representatives. Texas has more counties than any other state (two hundred fty- four counties). Texass capitol is Austin and the state abbreviation is TX. One historical event in Texas is the Shakespeare Festival. The people held a Shakespeare festival in Texas to show who was Shakespeare. When you see the Festival, they teach kids and adults about Shakespeare.

Culture, Traditions, Language and Holidays! Texas celebrates these following holidays: New years day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents Day , Texass independence Day (March second), Memorial Day, U.S. independence day, Thanksgiving, Hanukah and Christmas. The languages that most of the people in Texas speak is one of these English, Spanish and French. Texas has one big tradition, rodeos!

Interesting Facts and Famous People There are many famous people in Texas. Some of the famous people are Lance Armstrong (a cyclist), Buddy Holly ( an early rock and roll star) and many more. An interesting fact is that computers and software is a big part of Texas since the first computer chip was invented there.
