What is Promotion??

Promotion. The permanent movement of a staff

member from a position in one job class to a position in another job class of increased responsibility or complexity of duties and in a higher salary range.

What is Promotion??
On the basis of factors involved in promotion, it can

be classified into the following two forms:


Horizontal promotion Vertical promotion

The bases on which decision can be made concerning

promotion are:

Merit
Seniority

What is Transfer???
Transfer: The permanent lateral movement of a staff

member from one position to another position in the same or another job class assigned to the same salary range.

What is Transfer???
Transfers serve a number of purposes. They are used to

give people broader job experiences as part of their development and to fill vacancies as they occur.
Transfers are also used to keep promotion ladders open

and to keep individuals interested in the work. For example, many middle managers reach a plateau simply because there is no room for all of them at the top. Such managers may be shifted to other positions to keep their job motivation and interest high.

What is Demotion???
Demotion: The permanent movement of a staff

member from one position in one job class to a position in another job class of decreased responsibility or complexity of duties and in a lower salary range.

Discipline is generally administered when an employee violates company policy or falls short of work expectations Discipline usually progresses through a series of steps:
o Warning

o Reprimand
o Probation o Suspension o Disciplinary transfer o Demotion o Discharge
