A teaching model designed to help students of all ages elaborate and reinforce their understanding of concepts and practice critical thinking.

Planning:

Students must be familiar with the topic and topics related to it. Specifying learning objectives allows students to form and test hypotheses. Select examples/non-examples that best illustrate the concept and that test knowledge of what concept is and what it isnt in an order that allows students to create and eliminate hypotheses.

Implementing:

Introduce the lesson and explain the activity. Present students with examples and non-examples and have them form hypotheses. Present more examples so students can fine-tune their hypotheses. A definite hypothesis is determine and examples are analyzed based on hypothesis.

Adaptation:

C-A Model can be adapted for younger children and for cultural minorities; it can also be adapted for greater emphasis on critical thinking and to extend the process of hypothesis testing.

Assessment:

The best way to assess concept knowledge is to have students define the concept best from a list of alternatives. Assessment can also be done on critical thinking if you give students the opportunity to choose the best option and explain why it is the answer.

Motivation

C-A Model increases students interest, curiosity, sense of challenge and problem solving skills which gives them satisfaction n learning. It increases student interaction and self-regulation.

The main focus of the C-A model is to elaborate and develop students understanding of concepts and develop their critical thinking skills.
