Order Main Idea Details

Is about

A teaching model designed to help students develop a deep understanding of organized bodies of knowledge while simultaneously practicing their critical-thinking skills.

Planning:

Used when teaching organized bodies of knowledge. Includes having students find patterns, and form explanations. A matrix can be used for data representations that students can analyze to meet the content goals. Anticipate questions youll need to ask to guide students to understanding the content.

Implementing:

Learners describe, compare, and search for patterns; they offer explanations for similarities and differences. Learners hypothesize outcomes for different conditions; they generalize to form broad relationships.

Adaptation:

Three adaptations can be made: for students of diverse backgrounds, or to increase efficiency using existing materials, or by developing matrices during class discussion.

Assessment:

Assess content outcomes by providing questions that require students to think about outcomes and explain them. Assess critical thinking assesses students ability to make or identify conclusions that are supported by evidence.

Motivation

The motivation behind the integrative model is giving students confidence in drawing conclusions through selfregulation and teacher guided instruction.

So what? What is important to understand about this?

The main focus of the Integrative model is to present students with content knowledge about organized bodies of knowledge and encouraging them to think critically and draw conclusions about the topic.
