Cycling in the Netherlands


Did you know there are more than twice as many bicycles than cars in the Netherlands. 27 % of journeys in the Netherlands are by bicycle! There are large bicycle parking facilities, particularly in city centres and at stations. The Netherlands do not promote wearing helmets and its not necessary to wear one.

Cars and Highways


In the Netherlands roads are well laid out with clear marking and sign posts. Dutch drivers are slow compared to most other drivers. People keep within 5% of the speed limit. Smart cars are very popular in the Netherlands Crusing Dutch highways are very easy and relaxing journeys. In 2010, 640 people were killed in road traffic accidents in the Netherlands

The Dutch Rail and Trains


The Dutch rail network is the busiest network in the world. The main public transport in the Netherlands for longer distances is the Dutch rail or train. There are 2 types of transport cards OVchipcard and personal ones that you need to apply to.
