Goal Statement 1: To create a positive and welcoming classroom environment by building strong relationships with each student. Rational: I think it is important to build positive relationships with each student. By creating an open and positive classroom environment students will feel comfortable and take bigger risks in the classroom. Resources: My teacher associate. My university consultant. The class Psychology for Exceptional Learners will give me ways to differentiate my instruction to reach all students. Measuring: I will learn each students name within the first week of teaching. I will have each student complete an interest survey to get to know each student better. I will incorporate student interests into my lesson plans and activities. Weekly check in with each student and assess his or her strengths and weaknesses. Show concern in students interests and assist in extracurricular activities. Action Plan: To learn students names quickly, try and say students name each time I ask them a question. This will help me remember names quick. Have each student complete an interest survey during the first day of teaching. I will use the interest survey to get to know each student and incorporate their interests or strengths into my lessons. Each day take the time to say hello and goodbye to each student. Stand at the door at the beginning of each class and greet the students. Let the students know what I am expecting of them and why I have those expectations. Create a classroom with a positive environment making sure each student knows that they are welcome and important to my classroom.

Goal Statement 2: To create differentiated lessons with at least two distinctive teaching strategies in each lesson. Rational: I would like to incorporate at least two different teaching strategies into each lesson. By doing this there is a higher chance that most students will understand the content being taught. I would like to make sure I am equally teaching my kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and tactile learners. Resources: I will ask my Teacher Associate for advice. I will ask my university consultant for advice. I will use the Internet to help me research different teaching strategies for each unit I am teaching. I will have students fill out an interests survey, which will help me understand what their interests are and what type of learner he or she is. Measuring: I will reflect daily on my lesson plans and look for what worked and what did not work. If something did not work with a particular class I will make note of this and not repeat this strategy or change how I use this strategy. Look at my formative assessments and check if my teacher associate believes I have been using differentiated instruction in my classroom. Action Plan: I will make observations of how my Teacher Associate uses differentiated instruction in his classroom. (Week One) In each lesson I will use a minimum of two different teaching strategies. I will do weekly check ups to confirm I am using balanced teaching strategies based on how each class learns and is successful. Ask teacher associate and university consultant if I am differentiating my instruction.
