Thomas Goresen

Found

He plodded through the trees and found his way to the murky, brown pond. As he crouched to scoop up the stagnant, icy fluid, he saw the heap of ivory, like pearl or blank parchment left to the sun. She must have been lying in the dead grass for quite some time, out with the air and the rain and the curious beasts. She stared up with reverence at the nothing above her. The sky, the blue, the expanse. He stared a bit before hoisting her by the waist and ruffling the sundress, faded red like embers or dried cherries. He led her into the water and she floated about before descending to the depths. He walked off to find another pond.

He plodded through the trees and found his way to the murky brown pond. As he bent down to scoop up the stagnant brown fluid, he saw the mass of white, like pearl or milk left to the sun. She must have been lying there quite some time, out with the air and the rain and the curious beasts. She looked up with awe and he looked up, but it was nothing. The sky, the blue, the expanse. He grabbed her by the hands, ruffling the red sundress, red as any fire or berry plucked off the vine, and led her into the water. He watched as she floated about a bit before diving under. While under, he walked off to find another pond.
